Job Specifications (Qualifications)


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.¬  Background in law enforcement or security and/or customer service is beneficial.¬  Must have a high degree of pride and integrity in job performance.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.¬  Ability to write simple correspondence.


¬ 


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.¬  Must be able to perform basic math computations at 8th grade level.


¬ 


COMPUTER SKILLS:


Experience in the following software: MS Excel and MS Word.

REASONING ABILITY:


Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.¬

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:



  • Valid Montana State Drivers License.

  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification (training will be provided).

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:



  • Ability to work various hours.¬  Shifts will normally be during afternoon, evening, and/or graveyard hours.

  • Ability to display a high degree of pride and integrity in job performance.

  • Ability to learn and comprehend all company policies pertaining to this position.¬ ¬  Must be able to follow instructions as directed.¬  Ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to keep up to date on knowledge concerning the layout of store.

  • Ability to thoroughly familiarize with emergency procedures as outlined in the Operations Binder.

  • Must possess a high degree of confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Performs regular safety checks of the property in accordance with established procedures.

  2. Handles customer problems and complaints.

  3. Maintains a close working relationship with the Manager.

  4. Report for duty well groomed and wearing the appropriate uniform.¬  Must be well rested and alert to maintain a high degree of awareness.

  5. After clocking-in, check out keys for the shift.¬  Get a radio from the front desk and make sure that it is in working condition, with good batteries and on at all times.¬  Must use proper radio etiquette.

  6. Security requirements will be as follows:



  1. When conducting your rounds, it is important to always maintain high visibility during your shift.¬  Your presence will serve to put customers and employees at ease, and discourage inappropriate or criminal behavior.

  2. Security checks of the property ("rounds") should be made approximately once every hour.¬ ¬  Avoid making rounds at exact intervals (i.e. "on the hour").

  3. All areas of the property need to be checked every time you make a round (interior and exterior).¬  Barring unforeseen circumstances, the initial property sweep will be the most time consuming.¬ 

  4. Vary the entrances that you use and the route and direction that you take during your rounds.¬  Don't be predictable.¬  Check that all entrances are secure every time you make a round.

  5. Pay close attention to the parking lot during exterior rounds, as well as the surrounding areas.¬  Watch for any signs of theft or vandalism to cars or the building.¬  Don't be afraid to ask questions of people that you encounter during your shift who look suspicious.

  6. An Incident Report must be filled out immediately for all emergencies, injuries, or other related events that occur during your shift.¬  Call the Manager when you fill out one of these reports.

  7. Turn in all property keys and "sign" them back in prior to leaving the store.

  8. Make sure to punch out on the time clock.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift 30 lb. regularly and 50 lb. occasionally.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
